Who Are We?

Gardner College is the accredited co-educational institution of the Church of God (Anderson, Indiana) in Canada. It came into existence in 1933 primarily to train and equip leaders for the Church; to facilitate a cooperative and inclusive approach to the challenge of theological education; for the integration of academic study, spiritual formation and Christian leadership. This is still a prime purpose and program of the College. However, Gardner College has since then broadened its focus to include other vocational fields while maintaining excellence in the preparation of men and women for varied, vital vocations in the society and world at large... active in non-theological arenas.
Gardner College welcomes students from all denominations, cultures and communities, and is committed to providing an environment for study, work and worship free from harassment and discrimination of any kind. Gardner College is an environment where academic excellence is observed as a celebration of God's lively creativity in each person. Being here involves acquiring knowledge and skills, developing wisdom, mature judgment and spiritual formation in a context of a learning, faith based community. |

A student enrolled at Gardner College is welcomed into an accepting extended community comprised of other students, faculty, staff, and family members. Whether persons are enrolled in the Theology program, the Early Childhood Development program, the BRE or the Child Youth Care program (CYCW) they will soon discover that it is more than just an exercise in acquiring theoretical knowledge. The awareness of human core beliefs and behavior is sharpened and relevant enquiries can be addressed in a non-threatening environment.
Gardner College is affiliated with other Colleges and institutions of higher learning in Canada and the U.S.A., which allows for the transferability of degrees and credits.
Gardner College is equipped to offer a broad range of high quality learning opportunities through programs of academic study and practice. Gardner College unites the academic and spiritual disciplines necessary to prepare persons for effective and fulfilling vocation in the world. |

Gardner Matters to the Staff and Faculty
We asked them why they came to Gardner...
I came to Gardner because I was invited and because I knew Gardner had a heart for God and His ways, and I enjoy having a part in people’s growth in Christ and in knowledge. I am still here because of all the above and I still enjoy teaching, and (most of) the students seem to appreciate my methods.

John Bruneau B.Th.
Gardner is a place to get to know God better, of Christian influence and support, encouragement, guidance, honesty, kindness, gentleness and a place of community. Gardner is a place I come to understand my own potential and to build my personal relationship with Christ.

I’m here because the Lord brought me back Gardner a second time and confirmed I was to teach ECD. After a time of questioning purpose, a time of turmoil and emotional strife, the opportunity at Gardner seemed God-given. Gardner provided me with what I needed - and not only to reaffirm my purpose. I know the Lord showed me the way because of the healing support and personal growth He knew was here at Gardner for me. Gardner continues to be a ‘family’ support, helping me grow and be nourished.

Gardner Matters to the Students
I chose Gardner because it is affiliated with the Church of God in my area. I like the small classes, the healthy environment, the excellent teachers and the personal attention I receive here.

Lisa Ell, B. Th.
I came to Gardner because the College was offering the CYCW program I was interested in. The program is great. The instructors and professors are excellent at what they do. The class size is small which enables more one on one. The atmosphere at Gardner College is one to challenge yourself spiritually and academically. It is a great teaching institution.

God put people in my life to share with me about Gardner. God has called me to be here. He has plans for my life and going to Gardner is in those plans. Everyday in some way, God confirms to me that this is where I am supposed to be for this chapter of my life.
